Redskins blank Xpress in SEMHL Clash of the Titans

? Manitoba Junior Hockey League - Winnipeg Saints 4 at Winkler 1

- The Flyers winning streak was stopped at five games. Winkler lost the special teams battle, allowing two power-play goals against and going 0-for-5 on the power-play themselves. Tyler Oswald gave his team a chance to win, making 37 saves as the Flyers outshot the Saints 44-41. After being out-shot 20-8 in the first period, the Flyers out-shot the Saints 36-21 in the final two periods.

? South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League - Morden 3 at Plum Coulee 0; Stonewall 3 at Carman 4

- Stephen Warnock got the shutout for Morden as the Redskins blanked the Xpress to take over first place. After a scoreless first period, Morden took a quick 2-0 lead in the second on two goals by Keith Bially less than a minute apart. He first connected at 8:55 on assists from Jay Fehr and Derek Holenski and then at 9:22 on assists from Chris Reimer and Dion Peterson. Fehr then put the game away in the third with an empty net goal with 14 seconds left. With two games in hand, Morden takes over first place at 16-1-1-0 for 33 points while the Xpress are at 15-2-1-2 also for 33 points. Meanwhile, Jesse Vanderveen scored 3:48 into overtime to give the Beavers their win over Stonewall. Scott Sisson had two for Carman while Dan Bohemier had a goal and two assists. The Flyers remain in third at 10-8-1 for 21 points, while Carman is seventh at 7-11-0-1 for 15 points.

- The Morden Thunder proved their hot run of late has been no fluke as they handed the league leaders only their second loss of the season Monday night. And in the process, the Thunder took sole possession of second place and moved just one point away from the Mustangs. Morden improved to 13-5-0-0 for 26 points, while NDSW is now 13-2-0-1 for 27 points. The Thunder are up on the Morris Mavericks and Portage Trojans by two points and six up on the W.C. Miller Aces.
